Click [[here]] when you're ready.Great, I'm glad you joined us $name. With this exercise we will be going through a simple diagnostic procedure for a customer's vehicle. You will read the story and choose a direction you would like to start your diagnosis. Every time you make a choice to check or replace something, you will lose some time, depending on the action you take. Be careful, if you run out of time you will lose the customer, and money. We can represent the customers review as 100 points. Let's get started.
A customer comes into your shop with a concern that their vehicle is vibrating and shaking when accelerating. They mention that their friend said it was most likely a wheel bearing. You have two options, you can go for a [[road test]] to verify the concern, or you can bring it into the shop to start the [[inspection]].

Reveiw $happienessGreat, this is the correct first step. While on your road test, you confirm that there is a vibration and loud clunking noise only while accelerating. You check to see if the symptoms are present both four wheel drive and two wheel drive, and confirm that it happens in both. Once you get back to the shop, you can start your [[diagnosis]].
Review $happieness You should have started by confirming the customer concern to help pinpoint the symptoms. Once you get the vehicle on the hoist, you start inspecting some components. You can start by checking the [[wheel bearings]], [[suspension]], [[steering]] or [[driveline]] systems.

Review $happieness Because you confirmed the concern, and felt the symptoms for yourself, you can pinpoint some systems to inspect first. The symptoms only happen upon acceleration, so we can start by inspecting the [[front driveline]] or [[rear driveline]].
Review $happieness You check the wheel bearings, but find nothing wrong. You can check the [[steering]], [[suspension]], or [[driveline]].
<<set $happieness to $happieness -10>>
Review $happienessYou check the suspension system, but find nothing wrong. You can check the [[wheel bearings]], [[steering]], or [[driveline]].
<<set $happieness to $happieness -10>>
Review $happienessYou check the steering sytem, but find nothing wrong. You can check the [[wheel bearings]], [[suspension]], or [[driveline]].
<<set $happieness to $happieness -10>>
Review $happienessYou check the drivline system, you can either start with the [[front driveline]] or [[rear driveline]].
<<set $happieness to $happieness -10>>
Review $happienessYou check the front driveline, but find nothing wrong. You check the [[rear driveline]].
<<set $happieness to $happieness - 10>>
Review $happienessGreat, because the symptoms are in 2wd, we can assume that the issue is somewhere in the rear driveline system. You have a few components to inspect, including the [[driveshaft]], [[differential]], [[axles]] or [[wheel bearings]].
Review $happieness Great, this is an easy first step to check. While inspecting the driveshaft, you notice the u-joints are rusty and there is some free-play. This is the most likely cause, so you decide to [[replace the u-joint]].
Review $happieness You inspect the differential, but find nothing. You can check the [[driveshaft]] or [[axles]]
<<set $happieness to $happieness - 10>>
Review $happienessYou inspect the rear axles, but find nothing wrong. You can check the [[driveshaft]] or [[differential]].
<<set $happieness to $happieness -10>>
Review $happieness After replacing the u-joint, the driveshaft has no free-play. You can confirm you repair by taking it on [[another road test]], or you can return the vehicle to the [[customer]].
Review $happieness Awesome, you confirm that the noise and vibration is gone, you can now [[return the vehicle to the customer]].
Review $happieness Great job, but you should always confirm your repair. The customer was still very happy with your service.
<<set $happieness to $happieness - 10>>
Review $happieness The customer is very happy that you repaired the vehicle with minimal labour time and only replaced what was needed. Great Job!
