You should have a pretty good idea of how replication works - remember first year and second year...
You should be able to identify each of the proteins found at the replication fork shown below... |

1 - you should be able to identify this protein - two copies per replication fork.
2 - you should be able to identify this protein from its location/apparant shape. 3 - this one is a bit obscure. Notice that it is not present in the other half of the complex...I wonder why? 4 - the location of this protein in the complex gives you a hint regarding its function... 5 - not formally part of the complex...needed for relaxation after (4) has done its magic... 6 - the other side of the replication fork is more complex...the presence of this protein is essential for lagging strand synthesis...Notice that the lagging strand loops back around into the replication complex for discontinuous synthesis. 7 - what function is illustrated in the figure? |
